Valentine's Day Recipe Roundup - @SavorySimple

I never considered Valentine’s Day to be the most romantic of holidays when I was younger.  You see, February 14th happens to be both my mother and my brother’s birthday.  Now that I’m no longer living with my parents and am, you know, married, I like to do something small to celebrate the holiday aside from calling my family.  Maybe it’s a romantic dinner for two at home, maybe we go out, maybe Jeff (cough cough) brings me some flowers.

This year we’re dining in and I’ve compiled a Valentine’s Day Recipe Roundup with over 60 options for your entire meal.  Enjoy!

  • Jackie @ Domestic Fits

I’m all about a home cooked meal over a restaurant on valentines day. Its way too hectic and expensive, and the kitchens are so overwhelmed, the meal tends to suffer. When we were first married, we would both dress up and stay home and I’d cook. For me, that’s more romantic than going to a super busy restaurant where I only have a few choices.

    • Jennifer Farley

      I agree that it’s much more romantic to dine at home. Usually whether we go out or not depends on whether I’m feeling too lazy to cook :}

  • Lan | angry asian

Feb 9th is the anniversary of when we first met (when we get married, i think we have to get rid of all the other FIRST anniversaries, right, cus the wedding anniversary would trump all else…?) so we kind sorta lump in vday. like thanksgiving and xmas, we keep it very lowkey. this year i have some marrow and venison bone in roast in the freezer, so we might try to make something with those, OR, i might be able to convince him to attempt Gordon Ramsay’s beef wellington. but first we’re trying to survive Super Bowl sunday when we attempt a new chili recipe!
    love your roundup!

    • Jennifer Farley

We had our first date on February 17th so that was our anniversary for the first 4 1/2 years and we didn’t really celebrate V day. I still kind of like celebrating it because 6 years as a couple sounds so much more impressive than 2 years married. 2 excuses to celebrate!

  • Little Kitchie

FABULOUS round up! So many great ideas to try. I always love making a big, special dinner on Valentine’s Day. I think it’s one of the most fun days to really go all out in the kitchen! Thanks for sharing these!

  • Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic

What a great round-up! I’ve seen some of these recipes around, and I have a few in my head too, but I still haven’t decided what to make to celebrate Vday :)

  • Rowena @ Apron and Sneakers

What a big round-up Jen! And I love it! Thank you for including my linguine all’astice. And I need to work out my Valentine’s menu too if my hubby is not taking me out. LOL! I’ll start from your list. Thanks!

  • Kristen

So many great recipes, so little time! What a great roundup. I’ll definitley be returning to this for ideas next week!

  • Valerie

One of everything, please! Still plenty of time left before swimsuit season…Valentines Day is fun when you’re single! :P

Great line-up, Jen. Thanks for including my lemon meringue pie bars! xo

  • Silvia

If anyone was looking for a reason to celebrate for four days in a row… got it! Toooo many yummy things to taste!

  • sally @ sallys baking addiction

I’m going to be clicking around for hours here. :) Thank you for including my cookies sweet Jen!!!! :)

  • Karen Marie

Thank you for the awesome round up! I love them because they always introduce me to some new blogs that I have never visited before. From this list, sure to be my hubbys favorite…the Beeroness! We get to make tasty eats with beer…and he gets to drink the “leftovers”.

  • Gourmantine

What a fabulous round up! Have a nice weekend :)

  • Erin @ Texanerin Baking

I love this! I never think of anything except for dessert. I’m considering sending this to my husband telling him to prepare something for the 14th. :D

And how fun that there are two Valentine’s Day birthdays in your family!

  • Jamie

Great round up. Now lots of ideas….

  • Jennifer @ Mother Thyme

What an incredible roundup all perfect for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. Thank you for including my Spinach Salad too!

  • Laura Dembowski

So many great ideas! I think Valentine’s Day is all about small yet very thoughtful gestures. Heck, remembering the holiday at all goes a long way.

  • Whitney @ The Newlywed Chefs

Jen, this roundup ROCKS! What a great list of delicious recipes. Thanks for sharing!

  • Mackenzie {SusieFreakingHomemaker}

I love the subtle hint to your husband! I’m sure he got the message! :)

  • Heidi @foodiecrush

We’re usually homebodies when it comes to Valentines Day, why go out to eat with all of the amateur amors when we can get busy in the kitchen and cook it up. We won’t have to go much further than your list to get our romance on this year!

  • Hayley @ The Domestic Rebel

Thanks for the love, lover! I want one of everything off that list. Seriously, my Valentine’s Days are NEVERRR romantic. And I always make something uninspired like spaghetti for my family, lol. I want that braised pork belly or that lightened up chicken pot pie!! Will you be my valentine??

    • Jennifer Farley

Hayley, I will totally be your valentine. Don’t tell Jeff!

  • Kristina

    Mmm, so many wonderful ideas!

  • Terri (AGirlintheSouth)

That is one impressive list! I’m not a Valentine’s Day fan. It’s a Hallmark holiday in my humble opinion, but EVERY night is a good night for good food!

  • Steve

All of them look delicious so it’s obviously a tough choice. As for me, I’m gonna spend Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend and as a gift for her I’ve made a private booking for one of the courses organized by Zac’s cooking school here in Vancouver – cooking classes for couples and many of these recipes will most certainly be among the first ones we’ll try together. :)

  • Jessica

What a fantastic recipe roundup Jennifer, thanks for sharing it!

  • Kalyn

Great round-up, and thanks for including me!

  • Granny’s Parlour

Great idea. The gift of imagining each dish is a celebration in itself. I imagine printing out your list, cutting each selection into a single strip, sorting them in small jars and sitting on the floor with a glass of wine and a dear friend, companion, lover, spouse to pick out a menu.

    • Jennifer Farley

Thanks! I bet you could make a lot of fun menus from the list

  • Erinn

Everything you make looks absolutely gorgeous

    • Jennifer Farley

      Thank you so much :)
