I am wiped out so this will probably be brief. I spent the day apple picking at Larriland Farms and it was wonderful as always. Llamas, goats, hay rides, a corn maze… one of my favorite days of the year! This is the first time I didn’t bring home 20 pounds of apples. I only got one bag! I did, however, get a ridiculous amount of beets, rainbow chard and spinach. What can I say, I love my greens! I’ve been detoxing since Monday so it’s been an odd week. Most of my time was spent in a hazy fog, trying to work while fending off headaches. But yesterday I turned a corner and now I feel amazing! I’m looking forward to spending Sunday and next week catching up on life. There’s so much to do!
I’d like to give a quick shout out to some of my newest sponsors. Please go visit their websites and say hello!

Spicy Tahini Kale Chips
The best kale chips you’ll ever have, no lie. And it’s not my recipe so I’m not bragging!

Baked Eggs and Chorizo
Cast iron may be a pain but it sure makes this meal look pretty, doesn’t it? I can eat chorizo and eggs any time of the day.

I can’t thank you all enough for the kind comments. I don’t respond to everyone individually but I do read them all. This was a difficult post to write and your support means the world.

Glad you had a good time apple picking! Did they not have many apples? I know here in Michigan apples are few and far between from the weird weather we have had all year.
They usually have about 6-8 varieties available at any one time and 15-20 varieties throughout the entire season.
I’m jealous of your beets! I need to get some asap. Great roundup post, as always!
I am still dreaming about those totchos!
Me too!
Wonderful week! I wish I could have gone apple picking with you!
I grew up in DC — but now live in Chicago — and have so many happy memories of picking apples and pumpkins at Larriland Farms with my parents and brother. When I was back living in Baltimore after law school, I made the trip to Larriland Farms a couple of times. I went by myself once on a summer afternoon and picked blackberries to my heart’s content. What a great place.
omg I’ve been going to Larriland forever! It’s the best place. I grew up around there and made it back for a visit this summer for peaches. I’m so jealous we’ll miss the fritters this year.
I never knew that apples would last 4 months in the fridge – glad I caught that in the roundup!
Cheers

I enjoy your Sunday recaps! How wonderful that you’re gaining sponsors! Glad, too, to hear that your headaches are better and that your detox has been successful. I admire the discipline! :-) Have a great week. You’ve been busy!
I’ve never liked food made from canned pumpkin! So I am on a mission to see if I like pumpkin stuff made from scratch…I made my own puree this weekend!
It’s soooo much better!
