Summer; fresh vegetables, cook meaningful meals, time with my little girl, beach and salt air, singing birdies (not at 4:30 am).

  4. I love the Farmer’s Market and going to pick your own berry farms.

  5. Well, I am not from US, but I wanted to share and apply on your other nets. Now, about 6.
    > It is a bit funny but, in fact, at that moment: it was horror. Some time ago, I wanted to eat scones so badly that I ran to the shop and bought some. Happyly as I was, I arrived at home, made my tea and opened the bag. The first one I bit, the first… was like salty, odd. Completely off of expectations. Since then, I am a bit afraid about eating bought-scons.

    See you!

  6. i love going to the pool in the summers + no school! :)

  7. i like u on fbook!

  8. is it funny that i solved the problem of two bugs that were on my ceiling last night by smooshing them with a swiffer?! it was horrifying ha!

  9. I love playing outside with the kids in the summer!

  12. I love taking the kids to the beach and getting to spend more time with them. I also love not rushing in the morning so I can look at blogs like yours

  13. My favorite thing to do is go to the farmers market in the morning, pick out some delicious fruit, and bake it as a crumble to have for dessert after a bbq that night. So simple and perfect.

  14. I tweeted!

  17. and i already follow you on facebook, which hopefully counts.

  18. and my favorite part of summer is playing with the nieces and nephews in lakes and sprinklers.

  19. and my funny story:

i am petsitting right now for this gorgeous puppy. i also babysat the other night so i got home late and the puppy would not stop making her chewbacca noise, which means that she wants to go outside. so i let her, thinking that she would go outside and come back in in no longer than five minutes. she didn’t. for the next hour i chased her around the yard trying to convince her to come inside until finally i had to lock the cat downstairs so it wouldn’t also run outside, prop open the door and create a trail of treats a solid two feet into the house so i could slam the door behind her. i went to bed at 3:30 and woke up for work the next day at 8.

    puppy love.

  20. I love the longer days, picnics at the park, all the delicious fresh fruit, and doing lots of fun outdoor activities: walking, hiking, swimming!

  21. Just shared this on my Facebook page too!

  22. I love picking things in my garden and making something with them.

  23. Gin and Tonics – the perfect drink sitting outside only on a summer night!

  24. There’s a lot to love about summer, considering it’s when most kids are able to be, well… kids, and those memories stick. For me it was summer camp with new friends, horse rides, and crafts (and ice cream!) now it’s a (summer) vacation from the “real world” of work, chores, and endless e-mails (and still ice cream!) to the beach. Food-wise? Strawberry shortcake, hands down! I think it might be fun to use the waffle maker for the shortcakes, actually.

  25. I love that it stays light out until 10 or so. It makes me feel like I am getting more out of my day!

  26. I love having an excuse to eat ice cream all the time!

  43. A favorite summertime memory: My mom, grandma, and I used to meet at a park by the lake in my hometown and have a picnic pretty much every day my mom worked. We would find a picnic table in the shade and just enjoy the food, company, and nice weather.

  53. And I am super ridiculously desperado for a waffle maker since I had to throw mine out. Basically, it was cheap and turned all Easy Bake Oven on me and sparked and set fire, just like my EBO did when I was a wee lass. It was pretty devastating since I had a brownie in the EBO that I basically had to throw away, and I really had wanted brownies. Also, I really want waffles and have been Eggo’ing it for far too long. And I want to put cinnamon rolls in my waffle maker because that sounds crazy good.

  70. What I love about summer: freedom from school schedules, trips to the lake, fresh foods from the garden, sunshine and green and flowers!

  71. Hmm … a funny story: when my kids and I were visiting Yellowstone on vacation a few weeks ago, we kept a cooler with drinks and sandwich makings in the back seat where my daughter was sitting. My son took to calling her the “cook”, the cooler was the “fridge” and her drawing pad that she used to prepare the sandwiches on was the “counter”. He was our Australian/British tour guide. My kids are so fun :)

  72. My favorite things about summer is going camping, farmers markets, growing my own food in my garden and my son being out of school!

My favorite things about summer is everything yummy from the garden, no school for the kiddos, and the long summer days that turn into nights on the patio watching the fire flies!

  85. Mandy Harrell says:

So I made an amazing smelling pork tenderloin it was my first one and I was super excited… I had pulled it out of the oven, sat it on top of the stove to “rest” before cutting. The doorbell rang, yay my guest were just in time. As I walked back into the kitchen my two very large Bull Mastiffs are sitting so politely starring at me with the look of Ut-Oh which within seconds I realize its because they had ninja style gotten my tenderloin off the stove and devoured it. At the moment it was sheer heartache but of course now that time has passed we all laugh about how good it must of been that even the dogs couldn’t control themselves!

  86. I love the simple, very fresh ingredients that make an outdoor dinner special. Fresh fish, with fresh herbs and vegetables, and for dessert, fresh berries! Light, simple meals on the outdoor patio remind me of fond memories with my family.

  87. After my daughter dropped off my two granddaughters to school, my 3 yr old grandson said “Thank goodness, peace and quiet!”…..Ha! Would love to make my GKids waffles on this waffel maker!

  88. I love this idea. I actually just wrote a whole post on all my favorite summer things, then opened this… I love summer for floppy hats, corn on the cob, sun beams sneaking through leaf covered tree branches and melting ice cream.

That was in the late 90′s and I still have the same waffle maker. An upgrade would fabulous. :)

Funny story? The funniest is when my daughter (Amanda) was around 3 years old, she’s 26 now and has a 3 year old of her own. Anyway, my son (Chris) was then 5, and had the chicken pox so Amanda was jealous as he got the pink lotion and extra attention. Finally, a few days after he got them she came into the living room where I was on the phone with my best friend and I noticed a little chicken pox on her lower tummy (you know little kids, their shirts are always too short) so I said to my friend, “Aww Deb, Amanda has a chicken pock on her tummy!” Amanda yanks her shirt up, sees the chicken pox and runs toward the bedroom to show Chris, yelling “Brudder, Brudder, I got chickmapops, I got chickmapops!”. Suddenly she stops as she had yanked her shirt higher and sees her little, well you know what she saw, and yells “Hey, I got two chickmapops!” forgetting all about the real one on her lower tummy. Lol!

  195. In the summer you can smell the goodness of your garden in the morning. I miss living next door to my parents…every morning my son and I would meet Grandma & Grandpa in the garden with our cups of coffee and wander over the whole acre of flowers, perennials, trees in bloom or full of fruit, stop at the pond to feed the fish…most important were stopping at what flower was in bloom and sucking in the fragrance. Our favorite memory was of my dad sucking up the petal of a giant purple & white Japanese Iris into his nose! lol, he loves the smell of them “But not that much!” he quipped. We loved watching the vegetable garden grow bit by bit every day. Seeing my son watch what he planted grow and then harvest is a priceless memory for us all. Enjoy your summer everyone and take time take a morning walk and stop and smell the air…it’s amazing what you’ll find.

My favorite part of summer is floating down a creek with my husband in a pedal paddle boat through the lava flows of Eastern Oregon. I could omit the mosquitoes for a more relaxing late afternoon, but nothing beats bouncing along down the soft, curvy banks, the tall lodgepole pine forest, the flat cow pastures with large bovine inhabitant observers. Premium! Happy summer to all!

My favorite things about summer are my veggie CSA because I end up learning new recipes and eating so healthily, and frosty drinks! Oh, and the gorgeous weather, of course. :)

  212. Honestly? I love lightning bugs and my new little garden. Both are beautiful at night, especially the squash blossoms in moonlight.

  213. Funny story. Until recently, I had two cats. One was a dandy and the other a “cat’s cat” — very manly and stocky. The dandy was slight and quick and would often leave birds or mice or something else at my door. The manly cat was not a hunter, as it turned out. He was more often known for gnawing on my car tires, or chewing on rubber (and sometimes plastic) items around the house.

It got to the point where I had to warn my girlfriends: I’m sorry to have to ask this, but is your handbag real leather or … something else? If it was “something else,” the manly cat would chew the handle — not an unsightly look, but not what a woman might want for her purse.

Anyway, one morning I noticed something different on the porch … a snake. Ah, the dandy. It seemed dead, so I poked it with a broom handle. It jumped a foot in the air. It was a rubber snake, brought to me by the manly cat. His offering. The neighbors two doors down said they didn’t mind if we kept it.

    :-)

  228. What do I love about Summer? People’s faces, its as if it was impossible to be mad or sad and that really makes Summer the most positive season!

  229. Connie Risner says:

Farmer’s Markets! Big ones, small ones, road side stands selling spectacular fruit and produce picked fresh from the field. I can’t wait till May 1 for them to open and shed a tear of angst when they close in October. Nothing says summer more to me than walking through rows of local farmers selling their bounty.

  230. I need a new waffle maker – the last one I got (used once!!) is already broken! It wasn’t a Calphalon, needless to say)….

    Nice waffle maker

  235. Ahh, summer. I love the long days, the warm air, and mostly spending time with the kids outside doing all the things we can’t do outside during our long winters :-)

  236. For me, it’s the longer days combined with the extensive selection of fresh fruits and veggies at the farmers markets. That makes for a lot of toppings for those waffles!!!!!

  237. I love spending time with my family during the summer, it’s the only time when we are all together.
