Comfort Foods Recipe Roundup

I’m kind of at a loss for words right now. Jeff’s surgery is only two days away and I think he and I are both drained. It seems like a good time to share a roundup of some of my favorite comfort foods. I’ve included many recipes from my blog as well as others, both savory and sweet. All of these recipes sound pretty comforting to me right now. Below the roundup you’ll find a giveaway. I teamed up with some other bloggers to give away prize packages of our favorite things.

My Favorite Things Giveaway Package Includes:

  • Zingerman’s Guide to Good Eating – This is the book that started me on my food journey. It has fantastic recipes, but it’s mostly an encyclopedia of top quality ingredients. Learn about balsamic vinegars, olive oil, bread, cheese, rice. Read about their regions, how they’re made, which brands to buy. My description cannot properly do this book justice.
  • Valrhona Chocolate Cocoa Powder – This is the cocoa powder used by professional bakeries and restaurants. The stuff available at the grocery store doesn’t hold a candle to Valrhona. Use this cocoa powder to create rich, velvety chocolate desserts that are a deep, dark brown color.
  • Rubbermaid Commercial High Heat Spatula – I never use wooden spoons. These are by far the best spatulas you will ever use. They’re resistant to high heat which means you can use them right over the stovetop.
  • OXO Good Grips 9-Inch Locking Tongs with Nylon Heads –  I use these constantly. They’re my second pair of hands in the kitchen.
  • Kyocera Y Peeler – Ceramic peelers are amazing. They will always stay as sharp as they day you buy them. This is the only peeler I use.
