Butterfinger Shortbread Cookies ~ Savory Simple ~ www.savorysimple.net

For the most part, I’ve never been a huge fan of candy bars. They’re fine but I can usually think of other sweets I’d rather indulge in. However, there are a few exceptions to that rule; namely, Butterfingers. They are a major weakness of mine. [Read more...]

Being a food blogger certainly has its perks. There is never a shortage of tasty food around here. I’ve made many wonderful friends in the community and sometimes I even get free stuff. It’s pretty awesome. There is one minor problem I deal with: tons of leftovers. I cannot possibly eat all of the cookies and other baked goods I prepare so I’m constantly giving food away. Since I work from home, Jeff’s coworkers usually get the majority of my leftovers.

A few weeks ago I was chatting with several other bloggers on Twitter and we were joking that we wished we could have each others leftovers. And it dawned on me… why not? Why don’t we exchange leftovers sometimes? Why are people I don’t even know enjoying all of my food when there are so many other bloggers making yummy treats that I’d like to get my hands on?

Irish cream white chocolate chip cookies ~ Savory Simple ~ www.savorysimple.net #recipeIrish Cream White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Tell me your life story in 15 songs...  That’s not how this started. I was trying to come up with a list of my top 5 favorite songs of all time. A daunting task for sure but a girl needs something to keep her mind occupied while cleaning the kitchen. What defines a favorite song? To me it’s something I can listen to over and over again for years and never grow tired of it. These weren’t simply my favorite songs. Each song represented a time in my life. These were the songs that saw me through the good times as well as the bad. From there I began to fill in the gaps and here we are. My life in 15 songs. I’m breaking it up over a few posts to make it easier for me to share and perhaps easier for you to read. And here’s a disclaimer: it gets personal. I won’t be offended if you skip to the recipes. I promise.

Valentine's Day Recipe Roundup - @SavorySimple

I never considered Valentine’s Day to be the most romantic of holidays when I was younger.  You see, February 14th happens to be both my mother and my brother’s birthday.  Now that I’m no longer living with my parents and am, you know, married, I like to do something small to celebrate the holiday aside from calling my family.  Maybe it’s a romantic dinner for two at home, maybe we go out, maybe Jeff (cough cough) brings me some flowers.

This year we’re dining in and I’ve compiled a Valentine’s Day Recipe Roundup with over 60 options for your entire meal.  Enjoy!

Date-Filled Cookies ~ Savory Simple

Today I’m joining several other bloggers to take part a virtual potluck hosted by Kitchen Play.  We’re all preparing recipes from An Edible Mosaic: Middle Eastern Fare with Extraordinary Flair by Faith Gorsky.  I was tasked with making date-filled cookies, a recipe that I’ll admit was a bit outside of my comfort zone.  Up until now I’ve had zero experience with preparing Middle Eastern cuisine.
