Smoked Trout Dip ~ Savory Simple ~ www.savorysimple.net

Earlier I was chatting with Kim, another food blogger, and we discussed how we were both at a conference last year but never actually met. She wondered how that could have happened but it made a lot of sense to me. I’m pretty confortable writing about my life here and chatting with others on social media. I have wonderful friends and am a fairly social person in my day to day life. But I’m also extremely shy in certain social situations. In a room full of strangers I’ll often become introverted and stick with the people I know. I really hope it never comes across as being snobby. I just find engaging with people I don’t know well to be somewhat draining after awhile. I never fully relax.  [Read more...]

Crispy Old Bay Mushrooms with Sriracha Mayo ~ Savory Simple ~ www.savorysimple.net

Ok, let’s cut to the chase here. When I say “crispy” you all know that’s just a fancy word for fried. These are fried mushrooms. I like fried things, don’t you? So why am I not calling them fried? [Read more...]

Crispy Goat Cheese Salad with Strawberries and Avocados ~ Savory Simple ~ www.savorysimple.netCrispy Goat Cheese Salad with Strawberries and Avocados

When I was a teenager, food really wasn’t my thing. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. I loved Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken. I loved Cool Ranch Doritos (still do). What I really didn’t love was fresh, real food. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and good quality cheese were not a big part of my teenage diet. One evening my parents took me out to a local Italian restaurant called Piccolo’s and that all changed.
